Sun Media-owned community newspaper the Amherstburg Echo is closing after serving the community of Amherstburg, Ontario for 138 years. Earlier this year Sun Media launched Windsor this Week, a free weekly newspaper serving communities in Windsor and Essex County.  According to Mike Power, Sun Media’s vice-president of sales and advertising for Ontario, the decision to close the Amherstburg Echo was made in order to avoid duplication in the region.
