Alberta-based Great West Newspapers, publisher of over 20 community newspapers including the St. Albert Gazette, has signed an agreement with Postmedia to outsource printing of the Edmonton Journal. The daily paper will be printed at Great West Newspapers' new printing facility which is expected to open in summer 2013. The plant will be anchored by a Colora press from Koenig & Bauer AG.

According to an article in the Edmonton Journal, the new printing press will result in “better reproduction, more colour and greater size flexibility for the print edition.”
