Conrad Black, founder of The National Post and former head of Hollinger International, sparked speculation this week that he could be planning a return to the media industry. In an interview with Huffington Post Canada, Black speculated that newspapers in Canada are undervalued and that there are significant investment opportunities in the industry, “There is a great premium to be placed on the editorial function and on the goodwill of a famous trademark like a respected newspaper,” he said. “Any good title that’s grossly underpriced could be interesting.”
Black recently returned to Canada after serving serving a four-year prison sentence in the U.S.
