Saskatchewan’s Shellbrook Chronicle is celebrating its 100th anniversary this week. The weekly paper was first established in 1912 and expanded to include The Spiritwood Herald in 1933. The family-owned papers are now led by fourth-generation publisher Clark Pepper, who took over from his father Alf Pepper in the 1980s.
Pepper was recently recognized with two special honours at the Canadian Community Newspaper Awards. As a former CCNA director, Pepper received the Presidents Quill and was awarded Honorary Life Membership to the association.
