Malcolm Kirk appointed president of The Canadian Press

Industry veteran Malcolm Kirk has been named the new president of The Canadian Press . Kirk previously served as Postmedia News, executive vice-president, digital where he was responsible for the strategic direction of Postmedia's digital properties, including its news websites, mobile and tablet applications. Kirk also served as senior vice-president, group publisher, Prairie region for Canwest.

Kirk begins in his new position at the news agency immediately. He succeeds Jim Jennings and Neil Campbell, who began serving as co-presidents in September, 2011.
