Toronto-based freelance photographer Michelle Siu has been named the winner of the 2012 Tom Hanson Photojournalism Award. As part of her prize, she will complete a six-week paid internship with The Canadian Press in Toronto this summer. Siu will be presented with the award at the CJF Awards Gala on June 7 at The Fairmont Royal York in Toronto.

The award, established in honour of Canadian Press photographer Tom Hanson, is administered by the Canadian Journalism Foundation (CJF) and is open to any Canadian photojournalist who has been in the business less than five years.
