Long-time Nanaimo Daily News staff member Walter Cordery has died at age 54. Cordery first joined the paper in 1989 after graduating from the journalism program at Langara College in Vancouver. Cordery covered a number of issues during his 23 years as a reporter and columnist at the Daily News, his favourite topics being crime and politics in Nanaimo.
