Natalie Stechyson has been named the winner of the 2012 Michelle Lang Fellowship in Journalism. Stechyson recently graduated from Carlton University and has held reporting and editing roles at Postmedia News, The Globe and Mail and The Telegraph-Journal.
As part of her year-long fellowship, Stechyson will divide her time between the Postmedia News newsroom in Ottawa and the Calgary Herald. The fellowship also provides funding for Stechyson to pursue a special project exploring an issue of social significance.
Stechyson becomes the third journalist the fellowship, named after award-winning Calgary Herald reporter Michelle Lang who was killed in Kandahar in 2009 while covering the war in Afghanistan.
