Toronto Star legal reporter Tracey Tyler passed away on Wednesday, July 25 at age 50. Tyler, who worked at the Star for 25 years, first joined the paper in 1987 as an intern before becoming a legal affairs reporter. She is well-known for her 2007 series Access to Justice, which uncovered the excessive legal costs for Canadians seeking justice.
In a Toronto Star article, Torstar chair John Honderich described Tyler as the “epitome of a great beat reporter.” “She had a love of the law, a fascination with it, and the respect of those who were in it,” he said.
