Two newspaper veterans are among the 69 individuals who have been named as the latest recipients of one of the country’s highest civilian honours, the Order of Canada. Toronto Star national columnist Chantal Hébert was recognized for her professional achievements in writing, offering a unique perspective on Canadian politics in English- and French-language media. Halifax Chronicle-Herald columnist Silver Donald Cameron was honoured for his contributions as a journalist, writer, educator, consultant and his community activism.

First established in 1967, the Order of Canada honours citizens who have shown outstanding achievement in their field and in community service. The latest recipients will accept their honours during a ceremony to be held at a later date.
