Poland is a rare country where online advertising expenditure is already twice as big as newspaper advertising, and both online and print businesses are profitable.

In his opening plenary presentation, INMA Europe president Grzegorz Piechota will share examples of how his Polish newsgroup—with support from editorial, marketing and sales departments—used a variety of media channels to inspire Poles to change their lifestyles. One campaign inspired 120,000 people to run in one of 630 news-medium-branded events around the country, while another initiative saw 26,000 individuals to join a news-medium-branded diet club.

In 2010, former Harvard Business School innovation and entrepreneurship scholar Clark Gilbert became the first person to hold the title of president and CEO at Utah-based Deseret News and Deseret Digital Media. Taking a radical new approach, Gilbert uses his theory of "disruption economics” to pinpoint the cost of each story and achieve a more cost-effective editorial output.
