SPEAKER BREAKFAST - RWANDA: The Challenge of Speaking the Truth
Eighteen years after the 1994 Genocide in Rwanda, the country has made remarkable progress in various sectors. Despite the progress, media development has been at a snail’s pace. Of course, the role played by the media during the Genocide, greatly tarnished the image of reporters. The trust was lost and controls were put in place to ensure that the power of the media is not abused. During this very special breakfast event, Collin Haba, President of the Rwanda Journalist’s Association, will offer a rare glimpse into the challenges faced by journalists in Rwanda.
