Freedom of Information Audit – The annual Freedom of Information Audit is conducted by a team of journalists across the country. They make access to information requests to government agencies and grade the three levels of government based on speed and completeness of disclosure. The results are a report card on the state of Freedom of Information in Canada.
Canadian Circulation Data Reports – Canadian Newspaper Association’s annual Circulation Data Report calculates paid circulation levels based on ABC, CCAB or owner-provided data. The report provides analysis based on the average number of copies sold per publishing day (traditional method) and the total number of copies sold per week or customer cycle (neo-traditional method).
Canadian Circulation Rates Report – This confidential member report is produced annually by the research department of the Canadian Newspaper Association. The report includes single copy, subscriptions and vending box median prices, as a benchmarking aid for CNA-member newspapers. Also included is a Digital Edition survey, which polls participating newspapers on electronic editions and subscription rates and packages. This report is online in the Members Area.
CNA Advertising Linage Analysis Reports – The monthly Linage analysis consists of three reports: Run of Press Linage and Inserts Report, the Advertising Category Linage Report and the Classified Ad Count report. The reports are based on information submitted to CNA by daily newspapers and are available to CNA members and participating newspapers. Topline data is available to associate members. Year-end Linage Review – An overview and analysis of the year’s linage trends, available to members only. This report is online in the Members Area.
Revenues and Analysis Report – This annual report is prepared for CNA newspapers by Borrell Associates. It includes data on newspaper revenues from circulation, advertising and online sources as well as some benchmarking data from the United States. Available to members only. Non-Publishing Days Report – Issued annually, this report is offered as a tool for advertising agencies and media planners, to help them plan their media buys in Canadian daily newspapers.
Newsrooms Online Survey – One of a series of benchmarking surveys conducted by Newspapers Canada. The results offer a snapshot of the current trends in the use of social media and some of the management and ethical practices regarding online reader responses.
